Dixon Social Interactive Services, Inc. was birthed upon Barry Dixon's graduation from the School of Social Work of East Carolina University. The ability to communicate and join with family needs to provide clinical intervention was well received by many of the community and spawned the need to establish an organization. Thus Dixon Social Interactive Services, Inc. began.
Dixon Social Interactive Services, Inc. quickly moved to an office on Firetower Road, Winterville, NC, occupying most of the office spaces in the Wintergreen Plaza Mall for 11 Years. Dixon established other site offices all across the eastern side of the state. Dixon’s Greenville site is currently located at 313 Clifton Street in Greenville, NC.
Dixon Social Interactive Services brings a wealth of expertise and know-how to Eastern Carolina. Dixon has been one of the first mental health agencies to utilize and excel in the following areas: automated documentation system, a diagnostic assessment training and teaching process, creation of a family time model, creation of a screening, assessment and psychological testing center. Dixon also boasts a group of skilled and experienced psychologists, psychiatrists, licensed and provisional LCSW's, LPC's, LPA's, LCSAC's, Peer Support Specialists, and qualified case managers.
Dixon has utilized its relationships with many local and state service providers to collaborate to meet and fulfill the needs and necessities of the community. Those collaborations include: public and private schools, substance abuse coalitions and collaboratives, Lions Club, mental health centers, faith-based organizations, Department of Social Services, local non-profits, community shelters, and court/juvenile justice systems.
Over the years Dixon has been a part of the Adopt-a-School program, Boys and Girls Club events, local hospital foundation events, drug court, the D.A.R.E. program, Pitt Community College Adult Basic Education Program, Pitt Community College Job Link program, Beaufort County, Martin County, Pitt County, Wilson County, substance abuse collaboratives and events, and County Sheriff Department and gang awareness events in the Lenoir County, Pitt County, Wilson County, Edgecombe County, Craven County, and Beaufort County areas.
Dixon maintains cutting-edge technology and offers telemedicine services to rural hospitals and clinics for screening, assessment, intervention. Dixon is also licensed to provide Global Appraisal of Individual Needs Assessment (GAIN).
Dixon encourages the need of availability for services to local Hispanic and Latino communities and provides professional oversight and clinical skills expertise on all levels to this diverse population. Dixon currently serves 10 different cultures of Hispanic Latino and other ethnic groups.
